Baby Ball is a compact 50 mm wooden ball camera handle, designed as a smaller companion to the 60 mm Big Balls handles and sold as a single unit (1 pce).

This size is particularly well suited to top handles, side plates, and compact rig configurations, especially useful for Easyrig operating, where a full-size 60 mm ball could be oversized. Baby Ball uses the same materials, construction, and design approach as Big Balls — just scaled down.

Designed and built by me (Hendrikus De Vaan), a working cinematographer who wanted a more comfortable, intuitive alternative to traditional handles.

Each handle is made from solid Padauk hardwood, and hand finished with a traditional oil and homemade paste wax for a satin, tactile feel that improves with age. The spherical form allows the handle to be comfortably gripped from any angle, removing the need for constant handle re-adjustment.

Every Baby Ball is individually made and assembled by me, using stainless steel ARRI-standard rosette hardware with an M6 bolt, plus copper washers and stainless fasteners for long-term durability.

Note: 50 mm sizing is nominal. As a handmade product, dimensions may vary by ±2 mm.

Why a smaller ball?

While 60 mm balls are ideal for shoulder-mounted operation, smaller rigs often benefit from a more compact grip.

Baby Ball provides the same ergonomic freedom in a reduced size, making it ideal for:

  • Top handles

  • Side plates

  • Compact or stripped-back builds

  • Easyrig

  • Situations where clearance or weight matter

Limited production

Baby Ball handles are produced in small batches and made by me personally.

When listed as in stock, the handle is finished, several week long oiling process complete, assembled, and ready to ship. No pre-orders. No dropshipping.
